Joseph Stalin died on March 5, 1953. Foreign relationships improved a little bit, but nothing to celebrate. Indeed, the Cold War continued and the threat of the spread of Communism still worried the United States and other European countries. The arms race also continued and in 1962, the world was on the brink of another world war with the Cuban Missile crisis.
