No, on the contrary, I am totally against the granting of extraordinary powers to any political leader, whatever the issue. On the contrary, I think that every government official must have limited powers, controlled by the other branches of government. In this way, they will not be able to exceed their prerogatives, affecting the freedoms and rights of citizens.
Granting extraordinary powers to any head or politically elected official could lead to abuse of power and trampling on the rights of the citizens. Hence, I am personally won't support such law.
- Even though many countries were placed in a very tough position in a bid to fight the deadly virus, I feel empowering a president with extraordinary powers could affect other areas of governance, leading to abuse of power.
- With immense Power, other stakeholders would not have the ability to prove a point, hence, it is still very reasonable to allow decison making to be encompassing with other stakeholders such as ministers, and legislative members making decison.
