Patrick Henry was an American attorney and orator who was very significant in the development of the United States as an independent nation. Considered a Founding Father, he also served as the first and sixth Governor of Virginia. Patrick Henry also served as a delegate to the First and Second Continental Congresses. He was outspoken in his defense for independence, and believed that the only way the colonists were going to achieve it was by fighting the British. He is also well-known for his phrase "Give me liberty, or give me death!"
