If a colloid consists of a solid phase dispersed in a liquid, the solid particles will not diffuse through a membrane, whereas with a true solution the dissolved ions or molecules will diffuse through a membrane. hope this helps
Answer:
The question is not complete, here is the complete question;
Which of the following is an example of a colloid? (a). Salt water, (b). Hydrogen, (c). Sand, (d). Whipped cream, (e). Vinegar.
THE CORRECT OPTION IS (d) => whipped cream.
Explanation:
Colloid is from the Greek word; Kolla which means 'glue'. Colloids position are in-between suspension and a true solution.
There are two classification of colloids and they are; lyophobic colloids(unstable, stability depends on zeta potential, Inorganic materials and irreversible in character) and Lyophilic colloids (very stable, reversible, have little or no charge and are mostly organic materials).
==> Whipped cream is an example of colloids called foam. It has a dispersion medium of liquid, and dispersion phase of gas. Other Examples of colloids includes; AgCl in water, smokes, fogs,mists, clouds jellies and so on.
