Napoleon was a ruler in France who some viewed as a tyrant while others accorded him honor. Jacques-Louis David was a painter who admired Napoleon. Therefore, he showed favorable bias towards him.

  • Bias is the disposition to value certain beliefs and people over others. Some French citizens admired Napoleon while others did not like him.

  • David showed favorable bias towards Napoleon and that was why during the consecration of the emperor, he removed several negative events like Napoleon taking the crown from the pope to crown himself and replaced it with Napoleon crowning his wife.

  • Therefore,  David had a favorable bias towards Napoleon.
