The native Americans of the Northern Cheyenne, Oglala Lakota Sioux and the Southern Arapaho  tribes were seen to be struggling with the adaptation of the massive changes in the environment and the loses of the natural resources that was created by the migrants and the rapid settlements of the Euro American. The entire region was in great turmoil.

The immigrants and the Whites cleared off many of the resourceful places of the native American in order to build railway lines and also destroyed grasslands and forests. They also over-hunted bison and it also caused nearly extinction of the food source of the people. This disrupted the lives of the native Americans and highly destabilized their communities.

As a result there was conflicts between them and the native American attacks the workers of the Union Pacific works building the railway track in the resource lands.
