Susan had $120 and Patrick had twice as much money as her at first. Susan received some money and Patrick spent some money. The amount Susan received was 3 times as much as the amount Patrick spent. They had the same amount of money in the end. How much did Susan receive ? ​

To Find :-

• Money Susan recived

Solution :-

At first Patrick had twice of Susan.

Hence,

He have 2 × 120 = $240

Let the money received be x

• x + 120 = 3(240 - x)
• x + 120 = 720 - 3x
• 3x + x = 720 - 120
• 4x = 720 - 120
• 4x = 600
• x = 600/4
• x = 150

$\therefore \bold{Susan \: had\:received \: 150\ }$
