Answer:
They're associated with loss, prophecy, healing
& psychopomps ( Guides Of souls )
Explanation:
The speaker ask the Raven if it's there to heal him from his suffering
“Wretch,” I cried, “thy God hath lent thee—by these angels he hath sent thee
Respite—respite and nepenthe from thy memories of Lenore;
Quaff, oh quaff this kind nepenthe and forget this lost Lenore!” ( Healing )
The speaker themselves call the raven a prophet and asks if he'll be rejoined with Lenore ( Prophecy )
“Prophet!” said I, “thing of evil!—prophet still, if bird or devil!
By that Heaven that bends above us—by that God we both adore—
Tell this soul with sorrow laden if, within the distant Aidenn,
It shall clasp a sainted maiden whom the angels name Lenore—
Clasp a rare and radiant maiden whom the angels name Lenore.”
The Speaker has also lost Lenore ( lover/wife ) and Ravens represent loss and also guides of souls between the Mortal and Spirit world ( Loss & Psychopomps )
"And my soul from out that shadow that lies floating on the floor
Shall be lifted—nevermore!"
I personally I take this as the speaker has taken their own life in grief which is also why i included Ravens being guides of souls to the afterlife
