There are two types of diabetes: Type 1 and Type 2. Type 1 diabetes is uncontrollable, and usually begins at birth. However, Type 2 diabetes is very preventable. If young people want to avoid Type 2 diabetes, they should focus on 4 things:
1) Exercise: Get a good amount of exercise or activity every day. Play a sport, go for a walk, or do some pushups.
2) Healthy diet: Eat good amounts of fruits, veggies, protein, whole grains, and dairy. You can eat ice cream, chips, and sweets, just in moderation.
3) Hydrate: Drink more water than juice or soda. Drink a lot of water every day to remain hydrated and healthy.
4) Watch your weight: No need to look like an athlete or model, but be sure that you are not extremely obese or overweight, because this can lead to diabetes and other health disorders later on in life.
