Maritza counted 40 green cars and 20 silver cars in the parking lot. If the number of green cars stays the same, how many more silver cars would need to be added so the ratio of green cars to silver cars is 1 to 3?

Answer:

100 more silver cars

Step-by-step explanation:

OK so first I made a fraction being 40/20 so green cars over silver cars. Then i multiplied the fraction by 1/6, which gave me 40/120 and to make sure that it was a proper fraction. I found a common denominator. I found that the common denominator was 40. So divided both sides by 40. (40/40=1) (120/40=3) causing the answer to be 100 silver cars because you had to have 120 silver cars and 40 green cars to have a 1 to 3 ratio

Hope this help
