The Battle of Gettysburg, was fought from July 1 to July 3, 1863. It is thought to be most important fights of the American Civil War. On July 1, the Confederate Army had a small fight at Union at the crossroads town of Gettysburg. The next day the fighting got worse as the Confederates attacked from the left and right. On July 3, the leader of the Confederate Army, General Lee, ordered an official attack and managed to break through enemy lines. But, by July 4th, Lee had lost so many soldiers he had to turn back. July 4th 1863 is considered an important turning point in the war.
