Sammy hid his anger. He looked at his mother AND CRIED uncontrollably. He couldn’t help it, he had been holding it in for days! He finally told his mom what had happened...... Sammy said “ I love you mom and I’m so grateful to have you in my life “ his mother said “ aww, I love you too”
Sammy woke up excited to go to school. Last night he was up with a fever and his mom said he could not go to school the next day. Today was the school talent show, he was excited to see the acts his classmates were doing. He decided he felt fine and should be at school. He quickly dressed and met him mom downstairs. "Sammy what are you doing down here? your sick?" His mom asked "I feel much better today, and i should be at school." Sammy replied "You can't go to school you might be contagious, now eat and get back in bed." Sammy had nothing left to say. He knew his mother would not change his mind. He hid his anger hoping to change her mind and cried uncontrollably. "Sammy! I told you last night you would have to miss school today! Why are you throwing a fit now?"His mother asked confused and shocked by his behavior "There is a talent show today, Everyone is going to get to see all the acts except me!" He said through tears. His mom sat him down in the chair across from her and reached over for his hand. "Thats no reason to get upset Sammy... I am sure there are plenty of kids who wont be seeing the show today. And even if you can't see it we can have fun here." Sammy did not see how he could have fun knowing all he was missing out on. His mom got up and cooked his favorite breakfast. He kept quiet until she was done, eventually calming down. He ate in silence feeling bad for how he acted "I'm sorry mom, I was just upset i would be missing out." His mother looked up and smiled grabbing his hand again "It's okay love, we can have fun here. We will watch your favorite shows and eat ice cream. Then you can take a nice bath and nap whenever you want, I can make you lunch and later if your feeling better we can get a pizza. Then tomorrow you can tell all your friends what a day you had!" Sammy never realized how lucky he was! All the kids are forced to sit through a long show with acts that were probably not even good, and he got to have a day with his mom. He was suddenly excited for the day again. Maybe having a sick day is not so bad after all.
