5x + 2y = 7
5x + 2(x - 7) = 7
5x + 2x - 14 = 7
5x + 2x = 7 + 14
7x = 21
x = 21/7
x = 3

y = x - 7
y = 3 - 7
y = -4

solution is (3,-4)
