The British had the most territory in Africa which went from Eygpt down to South Africa (excluding Congo which was Belgium territory.) The British had gained valuables such as diamonds from South African mines and also natural resources to improve their industry as well. They held a strategic position in Egypt as well called the Suez Canal which connected the Mediterranean Sea to the Indian Ocean.
