Last week, I saw a friend cheating on a math exam:much to my surprise. My college has an honor system that I take seriously--therefore, ignoring what Jeff did wasn't an option. I had two choices left--report the cheating to the professor or confront my friend. I decided to confront Jeff(I thought I should hear an explanation before I did anything else. Besides, he's a good student: I didn't understand why he would have to cheat. When I asked him face-to-face why he cheated, he said he was afraid he would fail the exam. He said he felt really terrible about what he did; as he should. He also said he'd never cheat again:and I believe him. I told him I wouldn't report him--in addition, I offered to help him study for the next exam. I think this experience taught Jeff not to cheat:or I hope it did. For my part, I learned two things; Friends help friends, and it's important to have confidence in yourself.
