gravitational collapse of a giant molecular cloud which was light years across. Several stars, including the Sun, formed within the collapsing cloud.
Answer: Hadean Eon
The solar system was formed from cloud of dust and gasses. The solar nebula - from where sun was born about 4.5 billion years ago. It is believed that all the planets asteroids an were also formed then. The spinning matter collapsed under its own gravity rising the temperature and pressure and kicking in the nuclear fusion reaction forming the star - the Sun. The rest of the material formed the planets and asteroids. The geological era in which all these events happened to form the solar system is known as Hadean Eon.
