The Han Dynasty were ancestor worshipers which began before the Han dynasty and continue through it. However, Taoism/Daoism is considered the most representative religion of the Dynasty. Confucianism was a philosophy that prevailed during the Han dynasty, it became the political ideology, the official state philosophy throughout the Chinese empire. Confucianism was supported by the State and it became part of the education system.
The Yuan dynasty’s official state religion was the Tibetan Buddhism. One important characteristic of the Yuan dynasty was its tolerance of all religions. Although Buddhism was the official religion, the practice of Islam and Christianity among others, was allowed. They favored foreigners, giving those practicing religions from the west high-ranking positions. During this period the Muslim population significantly increased in China.
