Bike riding is a good way to get around town. A recent survey shows that 71% of people would like to bike more often than
they currently do. That's a much larger number than the 2% people who bike every day.
Many people who would like to bike choose not to because they live in big cities and are scared to bike on busy city streets.
That's a fear everybody can understand. Some cities have made biking easier by adding bike lanes. People in Philadelphia
found that its increase in bike lanes has led to an increase in the number of bike riders. Bike traffic went up by 95% after the
city created bike lanes on Spruce and Pine Streets.
If more cities find similar success with bike lanes, the number who bike daily will grow.
