5x - 2*7x - 2*1 = 14x         

5x - 14x - 2 = 14x              

14x crosses over to other side to become -14x, and -2 crosses over to become +2

5x - 14x - 14x = 2

5x - 28x = 2

-23x = 2

x = 2/-23

x = -2/23
