Explanation:

Caesar was a very competent general and politician who conquered many territories for the Roman Republic, and led many transformations for public life. However, he was also a leader who tended to concentrate power for himself, and used his popularity to legitimize these actions.

The truth is that Caesar was the main factor that ended the Roman Republic and started the Roman Empire. His actions were the actions of a dictator, and he set the example for the ensuing rulers of the Roman Empire to become actual emperors or dictators.
