Correct answer: Maintain a safe/ stable banking system.

The primary goal of the federal reserve system is to provide safety to the nation, regarding money and finances. It is also known as "the Fed," which is the central bank of the US.
It supervises and regulates other banks to ensure safety and soundness of the country's banking and financial system;
It conducts the monetary policy of the nation;
it maintains the stability of the financial system, and it provides certain financial services to the U.S government, U.S financial institutions, and foreign official institutions.

The Federal Reserve or better known as the Fed is the United States Central bank. They oversee all American banks and are the only ones allowed to issue United States currency. Their main job is to conduct monetary policies for the American government. By monetary policy, we mean the steps the central bank of the U.S government take in order to regulate the nation’s money supply. The Fed is also tasked to maintain an effective and efficient payment system.
Essentially, they have the will and a lot of power to regulate the American economy. They play a very interesting role of changing the interest rates in order to keep the U.S economy in check
