Yes, because the Vice President is the one who if the President needs to leave his position the Vice President is the one who is going to take the president position. The Vice President is the president of the Senate, if we have a situation where the senate is tied the Vice President is the one who is going to break the tie. Vice Presidents are also important because they travel abroad, especially when the president isn’t ready to commit to some sort of deal with another country but wants to send a high-level emissary.
The Constitution gives the vice president two roles. It says that the vice president is the president of the Senate and that he or she is first in line of presidential succession in case the president dies, resigns, is removed, or in case of a presidential incapacity.
