Over time, people told him that he can not become a god because of the fact that he is a human. But of course, he does not listen. One day he actually stumbled against a god and the god warned him not to have such wishes.
Also in the book, Icarus flies to high and then, in the air, he hits his own demise as a result. His dad told him to fly at a moderate stature, but he went up to high. I agree that he should get this karma. He did not listen to his parents, and that was his fate.
