From the nose air passes through the pharynx to the larynx. From the larynx it passes into the bronchi to the bronchioles and into the alveoli which are air sacs lined with blood vessels.

In the alveoli the oxygen in air is exchanged with the Carbon dioxide from the body. Oxygen is carried away by the red blood cells to the body while carbon dioxide is exhaled.
