Edwards v. South Carolina is significant because it provides protection to protestors.

South Carolina, 372 U.S. 229 (1963), was a landmark decision of the US Supreme Court which states that the First and Fourteenth Amendments to the United states Constitution forbade the state government officials to force a crowd to disperse when they are marching legally in front of a state house for their rights and against the irregularities.

The Supreme Court ruled that South Carolina had violated the First Amendment rights of peaceable assembly, speech, and petition when the police forcefully dispersed a peaceful protest against segregation so we can conclude that Edwards v. South Carolina is significant because it protect protestors.
