The American Revolution was caused by the English Colonist's demand for freedom in the new world. In the time period, England had many enemies, including France, Spain, Portugal and other countries. England is known for hiring German mercenaries, in order to overpower the colonists, as the British army was fighting other countries. France was the main power that helped the colonists win freedom. They supplied them with men, firearms, ships, and rations. With the help of France, America gained its independence and separated from the British Empire.
