For example, in the story, we are told that Okonkwo despite not been Ikemefuna's dad was often called father by him. However, Okonkwo didn't hesitate to kill the boy when requested by the village elders even after been warned by Ogbuefi Ezeudu not to do so. A short while later Ezeudu died, on the day of his elaborate funeral, Okonkwo who was part of the men firing their guns accidentally shot his gun and killed Ogbuefi Ezeudu’s sixteen-year-old son [ Indeed, Ikemefuna's death began a series of things falling apart].
2. The community is not well pleased with the boy's presence in the community. For example, it was even those with authority in the community; the village elders that communicated their verdict on Ikemefuna, saying he deserves to be killed as revealed to them by the "Oracle".
