Well the role of men was hunting and the role of women was gathering. Men hunted for food like animals while women gathered supplies and food like fruits.
Things that have contributed to the changes is the evolution of society. Men no longer need to hunt for food. Food is bought from the stores. Women no longer need to work to gather supplies. Stores existing have taken away the need for women to scavenge for it.
Another thing is men used to go to war while women stayed home to take care of the kids
Now we aren’t in active war so men don’t need to go do that while women have taken higher positions in society so they aren’t housewives/ trophy wives anymore. Well some are of course but it isn’t necessary
