Passage 2:
Officials from the Department of Transportation believe that public transit will
not be built quickly enough to be a real option for many people in small to
medium-sized cities. Therefore, we need to focus our efforts on making sure
our personal vehicles are as energy efficient as possible. This not only
reduces costs to individual drivers, but it also reduces the detrimental effect
on the environment.
