The ratio of a certain thing say A to another B is written as A:B
To write this as a rate, put the left value A on top of the right value B so that [tex]A:B=\frac{A}{B}[/tex]
So the rate is [tex]\frac{(3)cupsofflour}{(2)cupsofsugar}[/tex] read as 3 cups of flour per 2 cups of sugar
The unit rate means write the fraction as a rational non-fraction number so [tex]\frac{3}{2}=1.5\\so\\(\frac{3}{2})cupsofflour/cupsofsugar = (1.5)cupsofflour/cupsofsugar[/tex]
