The second water circuit in a nuclear power plant in which the very hot water from the reactor core circulates to the steam generator, where it boils water, converting the water to steam. The pressurized steam goes to and turns the turbine, which in turn spins a generator to produce electricity.

The role of steam in a nuclear power plant is to generate electricity.

In nuclear power plant, the heat energy that is produced from nuclear fission is used to boil water that is present in huge boilers. Due to high amount of heat energy, the water turns from liquid to steam or gaseous state. This steam is collected in a chamber and release it with a huge pressure on the blades of the turbine which start moving due to this steam and as a result electricity is produced so we can conclude that steam is used to produced electricity in the nuclear power plant.
