• The Missouri Compromise: Missouri was admitted into the Union as a slave state, but to balance the number of slave/non-slave states, Maine was taken away from Massachusetts and mad a non-slave state.
• Slave Trade Compromise: The Constitution didn't allow for the end of slavery for at least 20 years.
• Connecticut Compromise: The Constitution set up two houses in Congress: the House of Representatives (proportional membership based on population) and the Senate (two seats per state).
• The Three-Fifths Compromise: Slaves counted as 3/5 of a person under the Constitution for the purposes of apportioning House of Representative seats.
