Why are recessive traits not seen even though they are present in the alleles?

Because if the dominant trait (D) is present, it will in a way, overpower the recessive trait (r), and show the dominantly present trait physically but in the alleles, there might be blue in there also but be overpowered for ex: dominant brown eyes with a blue recessive trait so most likey if you have brown since it takes over

for recessive allele to be seen it must be present in a pair. but when it’s in single form it’s not seen, which is when it’s a dominant allele. so it occurs when recessive allele is with a dominant one.
