Ashoka promoted the policy of right conduct. With these laws and policies, he inscribed them onto rocks and stone pillars for all the people to see and so they could be reminded to practice those virtues in their everyday lives. He also worked to spread Buddhism, just as his grandfather had, and worked to improve the lives of his people.
