Greetings!
Properties which make the water biologically important are,
- Behaves as best solvent :- Water has a polar nature so many polar substances particularly ions dissociate into ions and then dissolve in water. Many non polar substances are also dissolved as all the chemical reactions take place in water
- High heat of specific capacity :- It has high heat of specific capacity that means it needs a lot of heat to raise the temperature of 1 gm of water by 1 degrees C
- High Heat of Vapourization :- Due to Hydrogen bond it needs alot of energy to change it into vapours.
- As an Amphoteric Molecule ;- It acts as amphoteric molecule that is IT GIVES UP ELECTRON TO FORM [tex]H^{+}[/tex] AS ACID or GAINS UP ELECTRON TO FORM [tex]OH^{-}[/tex] AS BASE. So Water acts as buffer solution
- Cohesive Forces in Water Molecule ;- Cohesive Forces are strong as they are polar in nature they attract each other to form chain, and this chain dont break apart.
I HOPE THIS HELPS YOU
