Both the wide-screen and theater screen have a ratio of 2:3 or 2/3.
You can find this by dividing the the measurements: (wide screen) 36in/54in which gives you 2/3in
Same with the theater screen: 42ft/63ft also gives you 2/3ft
Units don't matter much with ratios.
