There are different types of numbers: they could be natural numbers, whole numbers, rationals, real numbers and integers. Integers are a set of numbers consisting of positive and negative numbers excluding decimals and fractions. The following are its characteristics:

*Negative numbers mean numbers that are below zero.

*Zero is part of the set of integers.

*Number categories overlap with each other.

*When writing a set of integers, they must be inside a bracket ‘{}’ and with ellipses “…”.

*When adding or subtracting integers, use a number line.
Integers are the natural numbers (counting numbers: 1,2,3,etc.), and
their negative counterparts, and zero. The set of Integers is closed for addition, subtraction, and multiplication, but not division. Closed means that the answer will be a part of the set. Example: 1/3 (1 divided by 3 equals one third) is not an integer, even though both 1 and 3 are integers.
