If the $2,000 down payment isn't subtracted from the total ($12,000/ month) then it's $1,000 per month. If the $2,000 is subtracted then it should still be $1,000 per month.

$12,000 ÷ 12 = $1,000

$12,000 - $2,000 = $10,000 so that would leave 10 months instead of 12

$10,000 ÷ 10 = $1,000
