The above quote by John Locke from the Two Treatises on Government demonstrates the constitutional principle of a Social Contract. Through this quote, Locke advocates for an implicit government where all men consent to the majority for the good of all.

The social contract is by itself an agreement where individuals surrender parts of thier rights and obligations to the society to form a government. By this, an individual must respect and agree to what the majority of the people determines in the society. John Locke, Thomas Hobbes, and Jean-Jacques Rousseau were some important proponents of social contract theory.
