A Venn diagram can be used to illustrate the comparison, that is, the difference and the similarities between DNA (Deoxyribonucleic acid) and RNA (Ribonucleic acid).

The Venn diagram that is attached below is labelled A, B and C.

"A" represents the characteristics of DNA which cannot be found in   ( the difference) and they include:

  • DNA is double stranded in structure
  • DNA transmits genetic information
  • DNA contains the sugar, deoxyribose.
  • DNA contains Nitrogen bases with thymine.

"B' represents the similarities(that is, the properties they have in common) between DNA and RNA. These include:

  • Both are nucleic acids
  • Both contains sugar
  • Both contains Nitrogen bases such as. Cytosine, Adenine, and Guanine

"C" represents the characteristics of RNA which cannot be found in DNA ( the difference) and they include:

  • RNA is single stranded in structure
  • RNA transmits genetic code for protein synthesis
  • RNA contains the sugar, ribose.
  • RNA contains the nitrogen bases with Uracil.
