There are a lot of people who believe extreme parenting pushes kids to rebel. They say that when a parent forces her child to go over and beyond normal expectations, he tends to push back and go the opposite direction. Tanith Carey supports this opinion: ". . . children can become rebellious and alienated when one-size-fits-all education philosophies are applied, regardless of their personality or aptitudes." However, if a parent starts at a young age and instills in the child what is expected, without wavering, he will not know a difference. It is imperative that the parent does not constantly change her mind and give up when the child complains because that is where the issues begin. If a child thinks that he can just throw a tantrum when he is unhappy and gets away with it, he will continue that pattern into adulthood and it will seriously hinder his success.

The strongest point of the opposition is established when the narrator states that if the countries impose their own wills early on their children, the children will think that this is their own will and will not rebel against their parents.
