T-charts are a type a graphic organizer in which a student lists and examine two facets of a topic, like pros and cons, advantages or disadvantages, facts vs opinions, etc.
A student can use a T-chart to help graphically organize toughts about:
- Taking a decision by comparing advantages and disadvantages
- Evaluating pros and cons of a topic
- Enumerating problems and solutions aasociated with a determined action
- Listing facts and opinions of a particular theme
- Explaining the strenghts and weaknesses of a piece of writing
The T-chart graphic gets its name after the bassic version of it with two columns separted by a vertical line and with an horizontal line on the top that make it seem like a letter T. The columns are used to separate the information on two groups. It could happen that one column be more extense than the other.
For the question itself the T-chart could help you to gather information about the pros and cons or the advantages and disadvantages on a local tax increase and then you can adopt the position that has the more extensive column. Or if you already have a position the chart could help you to reinforce your point by putting all together the information that supports your position.
The T-chart is very usefull for making decisions or find a solution for your problems because it give you a general overview of the situation.
I hope the answer help you. Regards
