Constantine played an influential role in the spread of Christianity by realizing how prominent and popular it is amongst the Roman's. He was influential because he was the first ruler to become Christian and that probably influenced others to become one too. It says in Lesson 2.4 in the World History textbook that he was the first ruler too become Christian and make Christianity the official religion in Rome.
