I believe the answer is (C) Bacteria decomposing dead materials in which returns the nutrients to the soil.
Because the life process of a plant, includes fuel from the sun but also the soil and within the soil their is decomposing materials, as in bacterial substances. From my own knowledge and process of elimination the only option that stands out is (c) sorry but I hope it is right, I really think it is. Good luck!
