Answer:

Wounded Knee was a battle that occurred December 29, 1890. The reason why it was called "Wounded Knee" is because on both sides of the battlefield, many lives were lost. How it started? A group of U.S Troops approached a group of Indians telling them to surrender and put down their weapons. While that was going on, an Indian individual got into a verbal disagreement with one of the U.S soldiers- thus ending in one of them pulling the trigger and starting the battle of Wounded Knee. Location? Initially, the battle was "Near" Wounded Knee, but after the incident people called it "The Battle of Wounded Knee" particularly because of the location.
