Matter is neither created nor destroyed. Explain how this law is applied to the electron transport chain regarding the electrons?

Respuesta :

Answer:

you cannot create an extra electron you must "borrow" it from another atom

Electrons in an Electron transport chain are converted/transported from NADH and FADH₂ to molecular oxygen and not destroyed.

Electron transport chain which is composed of electron transporters, Involves the transport of electrons from NADH and FADH₂ to molecular oxygen, and the pumping of protons from the mitochondria into an intermolecular space. Also In an electron transport chain Oxygen is not destroyed but reduced into water.

Therefore with regards to Law "Matter is neither created nor destroyed" the  electrons found in an Electron transport chain are neither created nor destroyed but are converted.

Hence we can conclude that Electrons in an Electron transport chain are converted/transported from NADH and FADH₂ to molecular oxygen
