I wonder if you have your equation wrong, because(a−b)2=(a−b)(a−b)=a2−ab−ba+b2=a2–2ab+b2

Your equation, on the other hand, is (a+b)2 and that is not equal to (a−b)2 except when ab=0, i.e. when either a or b equals 0, and that is not what we normally mean by “prove”. Prove would imply “for all values of a and b”, which is not the case in the form you have your equation,
