Henry's speech had as its main objective to convince the Virginia administration to hand over troops to fight for independence from the 13 American colonies, that is, she argued in favor of the American revolution.

It is evident to say that Henry's speech is very admirable and that he managed efficiently to use the rhetorical devices ethos, pathos and logos in a magestral way. However, the device that was used most imposingly in the speech was the pathos.

Pathos appeals to emotion and Henry has managed to exploit the emotion of his audience by exposing the responsibility of each man with full freedom within America and that it would be better to die than to live without possessing it.
