Greenland is the largest island in the world, and most of it is located above the artic circle. For this reason, Greenland is characterized by a very cold climate. The coastal areas have a tundra climate, while most of the hinterland has an ice cap climate.

We can see in the graph that the average high temperature in the warmest months hovers around 45F, still a very cool temperature.

In the coldest months the daily high is 20F and the average low is 12F, meaning that these months are very cold throughout the day, with very little difference between the coldest moment of the day and the hottest moment of the day.  

The climate is much warmer along the coasts due to the moderating oceanic influence. This is why the totality of the population of the Island lives on the coasts. The rest of the island is an ice cap: the largest of the world behind Antarctica.
