The proles are the working people. The ones who provide all the more physical and manual labor that needs to be done in the society. For example, the serve the food at the cafeteria at Winston’s workplace. They also make up 85% of the society
Answer: they provide society with the large pool of manual laborers and children who could be easily exploited and counted on to live in property without any objection
